Baba Yaga

Virginia Slims

eating coffee beans and ritalins.
don’t want to sleep the day away.
we can light up on the rooftop,
whatever we can score
from your mama’s drawers.

we’ve been burning too long.
we’ve been burning too long.
don’t want to sleep the night away
in this camping chair.
in this camping chair.

going to crawl out.
going to fall out
into a seabed
full of all our big plans.
because we’ve been drawing heaven
since 1997,
from this same chair,
here in A.T.helL

we’ve been burning too long.
we’ve been burning too long.
don’t want to sleep my life away
in this borrowed affair.
in this borrowed affair.

Serial Bowls

i sure did my part
boring the holes in my head
and your drill is the bit
that turned my gut into a pit
but the angels dug the hole in my heart

when the nurse she saw me drop
she said mama should’ve used that birth control
because where my heart was supposed to be
was like nothing they’d ever seen
there was nothing but a smoking hole

American Cowboy

I wanna see you
all high on the sidewalk
and i won’t have a thing to say.
I wanna be an American cowboy,
and I ain’t never moving away
and I ain’t never moving away

You will not be hating me,
you will not be hating me
in the morning

you won’t see me falling down
you won’t know me
when you’re on your way out
everything you’ve come to be
is just fine
and everything you saw in me,
alright
alright

well the thing about me is,
I’m so damn confrontational
I ain’t go time
for all your sensational
you’ve got a mind,
say what you know about me

I wanna be an American cowboy,
and I ain’t never moving away
and I ain’t never moving away

You will not be hating me,
you will not be hating me
in the morning

Tan Lines

sending me pictures from the naked beach
when all I want is you here naked with me
so I snack on some leftover Christmas candies
and unknowingly say hurtful things
but it’s not out of spite
just trying to keep it light
just hate I have to settle for dreaming of you tonight, you tonight

I know it’s all for those tan lines
I know it’s all within those main lines
I know it’s hard keeping it in line
I know it’s all for those tan lines

scanning the channels at the budget inn
just wishing that this weekend would end
it’s been carrying on now for 2 months too long
and it’s only just settling in
living alone in our own time zone
just trying to get you late night on the phone
but no one’s ever home

I know its all for those tan lines
I know it’s all within those main lines
I know it’s hard keeping it in line
I know it’s all for those tan lines

Felix Helix

This helix is spiraling down
we can see you all throughout
we’ve come so close to solving your riddle
and we see a sense of humor

and we’ve gotten so comfortable
just to be tossed into the cold
we’ve come so close to solving your riddle
and we know your sense of humor

gravity just slows you down

now we’ve gotten so comfortable
just to be tossed into the cold
we’ve come so close to solving your riddle
and we know your sense of humor

gravity just slows you down
we didn’t need this anyhow
we’ve been waiting so long
we’ve gone about it all wrong

Dig

Up in the city the ground is soft
put yourself an apple in the eye
and it’s already too far gone
to pretend there was just some kind of plan
we might as well just admit we’re lost

but I’ve got this plan to figure out
what we always new
what life is really all about
dig yourself a hole
and then you dig yourself out
laying up, it ain’t the same as laying down

but there’s one left on the table
and it’s calling out my name
and I say I don’t think I wanna play this game
I don’t think I wanna play this game
I don’t think I wanna play this game

That you will know about the nature of life
some bring the morning, others bring the night
that you’re the light in my eyes

I turn the lights off now when I get home
I’m gonna love you
if it takes all goddamn night long
so far gone

because I
I see colors all the time
a grand piano
with more keys than black and white
I’ve seen a big star in the sky
and it’s turning on my baby

I dig myself right in the ground
I take my time going home
I run away from the same sound
of all I clam that I don’t own

Keith & Donna

Why did you let?
Why did you let the tank run dry?
At the standoff, at the curtain call

Why did you draw?
Why did you draw the line so long?
Your self-involved, and you know it all

Fists fight flying through pale blue sheetrock walls
Your name’s an anchor
nearly everytime it’s called

To the castoffs,
From your pile we come anew
From your burn the scars accrue
And with those words arising slowly out of you
We will be there to renew

Are you gonna?
Are you gonna let them cauterize?
Your wounds and all. When comes the fall?

How can we tell?
How can we tell there’s something off?
With our recking ball, please proof us wrong

We don’t know what came unglued
We won’t ever let them make a mince out of you

To the castoffs,
From your pile we come anew
From your burn the scars accrue
And with those words arising slowly out of you
We will be there to renew

The Light

Painting pictures on the wall
splashing soap up and down the halls
not caring about the things you’ve lost

But baby when you gonna see
this life just ain’t gonna be
but you’re beginning to see the light

Oh baby why you wait so long to get back home
Oh baby why you wait when you know i’ll be late
and you’ll be stoned

Crying on your bathroom floor
with broken mirror shattered off your door
It’s been way past too long to go

Come home you’re on the porch again
sitting with yourself two to the wind
I wish I’s left the back window unhinged

Death Awaits

Singing in the shag,
we folded up the flag
lost him overboard
with just a boogie board

get rolled up in the wave, cuz death awaits
and it’s a mean death
but it’s a clean death

I fired out my hand
but he was face-down in the sand
and he wouldn’t make a sound
so we laid him in the ground

get rolled up in the wave, cuz death awaits
and it’s a mean death
but it’s a clean death

The Doewg

I’m just a dog you can’t leave me alone
for what seems like three days, alone in a cage
cause when you’re gone the spokes they don’t roam
and you left the a/c on 78 degrees

And I tried and I tried to run
but I was here and you were gone
on the road again, when the morning fog rolls in

I’ve grown a fleece that can melt your freeze
some like to say its the dog in me
but you came back to a couch full of flees
in an empty house, not one but me

Heavy Weights

too great for words to say
I’ll try to speak them anyway
and I bring my lies to the table
weathered by the storm
this alabaster stolne
is waiting on the chisel

quick to speak your mind
it’s all the same when you die
when you die
it’s in the nigh
it’s no surprise

can’t we negotiate
those famous last words you say
and I didn’t even see it coming
try to make a getaway
as not to retaliate
and oh what an awful blunder

when. you. die.
